She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and earned her Doctoral and Masters degrees in Clinical Psychology and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, summa cum laude. She was on the clinical faculty at the University of Arizona Medical School. Her book, Dreamers, Discoverers & Dynamos, won the San Diego Journalism Award, the San Diego Book Award for Best Self-Help Book, and Outstanding Non-Fiction at the Southwestern Writers Conference.

An Expert in Attention Skills

In 1978 (two years before the term “attention deficit disorder” first appeared as a diagnosis), Dr. Palladino completed her doctoral dissertation: “Cognitive Strategies for Self-Control: The Use of Self-Instruction to Resist Distraction.” Since then, in addition to post-doctoral study of attention disorders, she has studied successful attention control, especially in high pressure, distraction-prone conditions. For example, Dr. Palladino took advanced training with a six-time Olympic sports psychologist at San Diego State University, and studied the focus strategies of elite athletes, such as competition glider pilots. She has adapted these techniques to solve everyday problems, to counsel and train those who overwhelm and distract quickly. She describes her strength-centered approach in her book, Dreamers, Discoverers and Dynamos.
